What is SmartCast?
A
SmartCast is a  video  and audio capture, encode and live
streaming device. SmartCast captures analog NTSC/PAL video
and analog stereo audio (L/R), digitizes and compresses the
video/audio data using the latest H.264 and AAC video and
audio encoding technologies. Captured and compressed
video/audio is streamed live in RTP/UDP to the network (over
an ethernet interface).

How do I setup SmartCast?
A
Setting up the SmartCast box is just a three step process:

    *Connect the SmartCast box to your router with the
Ethernet cable (provided)
     
    *Connect the audio video source to the SmartCast box
with the RCA cable (provided)

Configuring and streaming from SmartCast

    *Register with SmartCast control center
    
    *Add your SmartCast to your account
    
    *Configure SmartCast parameters and control streaming 
    
    *Power up the SmartCast box with the power supply
(provided) and you are ready to stream live!!

What is the bandwidth requirement to stream data out from
SmartCast?
A
SmartCast supports a video bit rate range of 32 kbps to 4
Mbps and audio bit rate range of 24 kbps to 128 kbps. A
reliable uplink bandwidth of  1.5*(audio+video) bitrates
selected is recommended.   

For example - If video bit rate selected is 256 kbps, audio
bit rate selected is 32 kbps, then the reliable uplink
bandwidth recommended is  432 kbps.

What kind of network connection is expected to receive data
streamed from SmartCast?

SmartCast supports a video bit rate range of 32 kbps to 4
Mbps and audio bit rate range of 24 kbps to 128 kbps. A

selected is recommended.

Yes, but SmartCast requires a wired network connection with
the router.

SmartCast can be operated with various settings.

Encoding Type: Audio Only, Video Only, Both Audio and Video
Input source: NTSC/PAL (Full D1 resolution, Interlaced)
Video Bit rate: 128 kbps to 3 Mbps 
Audio Bit rate: 64 kbps
Video frame rate: 30 fps
Video Resolution (Resizable): 320x240, 640x480, 720x480

Any NTSC/PAL video or analog stereo audio (L/R) can be given
as input to SmartCast. For example:

    *Surveillance/Commercial cameras

    *Audio tapes  e.t.c.

How many inputs can be connected to SmartCast at a time?
A
SmartCast has two independent AV channels. Hence it can
connect and stream up to two input sources simultaneously.

No. Any browser enabled device (PC, Smart Phones etc.)
connected to the internet is sufficient to configure SmartCast

Can I use SmartCast for streaming live sports or surveilance
videos or distance learning?
A
SmartCast is very ideal for all applications that require
live audio and video streaming. SmartCast can be used for
unicast, multicast and Broadcast applications. SmartCast is
also compatible with broadcast servers like Wowza and Apple
Darwin server.

Do I need a custom software to receive streams from SmartCast?

Any player like Quicktime, VLC, etc. that support RTP
streaming and H.264/AAC Decoding can receive stream from
SmartCast.
